Underneath our iconic canopy-style roof, you’ll find a wealth of interactive learning opportunities, all skilfully incorporated into the story of Planet Earth.

From natural history and geography to geology and environmental studies, we have it all covered. What’s more, our dedicated education service, delivered by teaching professionals, is designed with the Curriculum for Excellence at its core.

We regularly receive visits from school parties from all over Scotland and further afield. And, talking of parties, our iceberg makes us one of the coolest places to hold birthday parties in Edinburgh.

3D experience in Edinburgh - formative and fun

Children really enjoy learning if it’s made fun - and who could blame them for that?

We understand that it’s much easier for people of all ages to process new information if it’s presented in an enjoyable, readily digestible and “hands-on” way.

That’s why our interactive learning boffins have pooled their creative powers to develop our 3D attraction in Edinburgh one stage further and incorporate a fourth, highly effective element which significantly enhances the realism of the show.

This magic X factor appears in various guises in the theatre as part of the first 4D experience in Scotland.

Special effects include alpine snowflakes, the scent of rhino poo (not for the feint-hearted!) and the sensation of our intriguingly titled “Buttkickers” - which do precisely what their name suggests!
