What exactly is Our Dynamic Earth?
Based in the heart of Edinburgh, we are an innovative visitor five-star attraction which tells, in glorious technicolour, the breathtaking story of planet Earth. With the help of a range of family-friendly interactive exhibits, we take a closer look at many of the extraordinary aspects that make our universe so unique.

Which age group are your exhibits aimed at?
Our fourteen exhibition galleries have all been carefully designed to address different levels of comprehension and to incorporate features that will engage and inform children (guideline age 3–12 years approx.), whilst still being of interest to the adults they bring with them! So if you’re planning a family day trip to Edinburgh, you can be sure that Our Dynamic Earth will appeal to everyone in the family.

Do you have to visit the galleries in any specific order?
The layout of our interactive exhibits encourages visitors to follow a recommended route to ensure that they don’t miss any highlights along the way. In most of our galleries you are welcome to linger for as long as you wish, making the most of every minute of your visit, and you can even go round again if the mood takes you!

Which galleries are the most popular?
That’s something we’re always keen to know too, so we ask our visitors regularly about their favourites. Understandably, the answer varies according to each visitor’s own particular passion – in other words it depends whether you’re a dinosaur-obsessed toddler, an ultra-keen teenage explorer, a trainee time traveller or a geographically challenged granny.

Do you have picnic facilities or a restaurant?
Being both an indoor and outdoor attraction (don’t forget to check out our free Earthscape Scotland exhibit!), we offer outdoor picnic facilities in addition to our specially provided indoor picnic tables. Moreover, a wide variety of hot meals, drinks and snacks can be purchased at our aptly named Food Chain Café – and they won’t cost the earth!
