Blast Off into Space this Bank Holiday!

This bank holiday weekend, why not do something a little bit different and join us at Dynamic Earth for an amazing journey through the cosmos!  From 29 April - 1 May, we have lots of exciting Space themed activities for all the family including colouring and craft activities, and a fun space-hunt through the Dynamic Earth galleries.  Plus, you will also have an exciting opportunity to blast off to the International Space Station, via the wonders of modern technology!  All weekend we will have an extra-special immersive cinematic experience for our visitors, courtesy of the Cosmos Planetarium in their state of the art, fully digital, 360° pop-up dome!

Britain’s most famous astronaut Tim Peake visited Dynamic Earth last autumn to meet our visitors and answer questions on his time in space – and we are bringing him back once more this Bank Holiday, even though it’s just in digital form!  Once inside the Cosmos Planetarium, you will blast off and fly up to the International Space Station on a Soyuz rocket.  Visitors will explore some of the modules to learn how Tim Peake and his fellow astronauts live and work in space – all from the comfort of their seats inside this amazing pop-up planetarium!  Educational and fun, the film includes launch footage of the Principia space mission – you will see space like you’ve never seen it before!

The Cosmos Planetarium shows will run from 12:00 – 16:00 each day and tickets are free with entry to Dynamic Earth (spaces can be booked when you arrive).  You can do some cosmic crafting and colouring, and join in our gallery space-hunt all weekend.  Plus, your wee astronauts can even take a little bit of the universe home with them, with a fantastic and free souvenir Space poster!

We hope you can join us for an out-of-this-world holiday weekend!
