We’re counting down the days until Santa makes his appearance and can’t wait for the festive holidays to arrive! But we also know that the kids look forward to extra special entertainment at Christmas time so here’s our top tips for having fun with all the family.
Dynamic Earth’s Winter Woodlands
If you visit Dynamic Earth from 27-31 December, you can also take part in our interactive, drop-in sessions to explore the Caledonian Pine Forests and the animals that live there. Have a go at our nature detective challenges or build a cosy home for our cuddly hedgehogs!
Christmas at the Botanics
Edinburgh’s Royal Botanic Garden is particularly magical at Christmastime. Until 30th December, you can follow a one-mile illuminated trail, passing by the Fire Garden, Crystal Lawn, Choir of Trees and more. Don’t forget to give Santa a wave!
Ice Adventure: A Journey through Frozen Scotland
Wrap up warm for this fantastic display of impressive ice sculptures on George Street. Until Christmas Eve, you can travel through Scotland’s wonderful history and surround yourself with our country’s historical figures and mythical creatures!
Christmas Art at the National Museum of Scotland
From 27-30 December, your mini Picassos can get involved with the National Museum of Scotland’s popular Christmas Art Competition. Suitable for all ages and abilities, materials are provided for your little ones to show off their artistic talent.
Ice Skating in St Andrew Square
Encourage the kids to pull on their skates for a glide around the Melville Monument. Skating aids are available for little ones who haven’t found their feet yet and there’s a cosy bar with great viewing areas for the adults who prefer to keep their feet on dry ground!
MagicFest Christmas Special
Head along to the Traverse Theatre between 27-30 December to be wowed by Edinburgh’s biggest festive magic show, featuring stars of magic from the UK and special guests from Spain.
Baby Loves Pop Bingo Disco
On 23rd December, the Festival Square Speigeltent will be hosting a super fun event for parents and their little ones. Spend 90 minutes dancing your socks off to Christmas classics and pop hits!
Ceilidh Dancing at the Scottish Storytelling Centre
Teach your little ones our traditional dances with the Scottish Storytelling Centre’s family ceilidh. With live music and stories, it’s great fun for the whole family.
