As the cold of winter truly sets in and the temperatures plunge, come and cosy up with us and find out how the cute creatures of the Caledonian forests survive the colder months. We have loads of family-friendly, fun activities to keep the kids amused during the school holidays here at Dynamic Earth. You can visit our amazing attraction and travel back in time to find out all about Planet Earth and how it was formed – and while you are here, why not take part in our FREE Winter Woodlands activity programme which will be running on our Top Deck area from the 27th – 31st December!
Discover which animals call the Caledonian woodlands their home, and find out more about the creatures who lived here in the past. You can take part in various challenges to put your nature detective skills to the test - see if you can recognise native bird calls, or identify some of the different types of trees in our forests! You can learn all about hibernation and meet our adorable family of cuddly hedgehogs – we’d like you to take part in a challenge to help keep them warm in winter by designing and building a new home, which will keep them safe from the freezing temperatures. You can even test out its effectiveness with our special infrared camera! You can also get creative in our craft corner and make your very own woodland creature to take home with you – activities include sewing your own badger, hedgehog or fox tree decorations, make your own wooden key-ring, and of course, lots of creative colouring.
These drop-in activities are a great extra to your Dynamic Earth experience and will be running from 10am-2pm on the 27th - 31st December. It’s all included with your admission, and it’s also free for our annual Explorer Pass holders. We look forward to seeing you for some festive fun here at Dynamic Earth this Christmas Holiday!
