Family Fun this February!

Come and join us at Dynamic Earth this February half-term as we launch our exciting new Family Learning programme for 2018 - Operation Earth!   Our world is changing constantly, and we are facing new environmental challenges all the time - on land, in the air, and in our oceans.  With the knowledge and expertise of environmental scientists we can investigate how and why this is happening, and what impact it may have on our future.  From February 2018, Dynamic Earth is one of eleven science centres throughout the UK that will deliver this exciting new national science engagement programme.  Operation Earth is designed in excite and inspire you, in a fun and interactive way that gets the whole family involved.

Kicking off on Saturday 10th February, the line-up includes a new family science show and lots of interactive activities and experiments, focussing on the environmental challenges we face, such as air pollution and climate change.  With your help, we can try to solve some of the puzzles and problems that our scientists spend their time researching.  Intrepid Earth Explorers can investigate the microscopic world, become a human air-quality sensor, pilot a drone using simulator software, become an ecologist and search for wildlife in our very own indoor meadow and even take part in a game of giant Food-Chain Jenga!

We’ll also be joined by special guests from the Scottish Mineral and Lapidary Club from the 12th-16th of February inclusive. Full details are available on the “What’s On” Calendar on the website.

The Operation Earth programme is available as a drop-in experience as part of a visit to Dynamic Earth.  We are open every day during the February half-term holiday, between 10am and 4pm. The activities are included with admission to the Dynamic Earth exhibition and are free for Explorer Pass holders.  We hope to see you all soon for some fantastic February fun!
