Subsidies and Funded Activities

Transport subsidy

With thanks to the Scottish Government, Dynamic Earth is delighted to be able to offer assistance with the cost of transport to many schools and groups from across Scotland. Qualifying criteria does apply and any subsidy must be claimed within 6 months of a visit. To find out if your school is eligible please fill out our very short questionnaire and we will get back to you.

If you would like to discuss this further please call our booking team direct on 0131 523 1273.

Important Information:

*Transport subsidy is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and is allocated to you when you confirm your booking. If we have confirmed your eligibility for transport subsidy prior to you booking your visit we do need you to inform the Bookings Officer at the time of booking that you are eligible. At that point we can reserve the subsidy for you but will advise you immediately if the subsidy has all been allocated.**

Schools Golden Ticket

Due to the phenomenal success of our Community Golden Ticket Scheme, available to local charities or organisations working with or assisting disadvantaged children or senior groups in the Edinburgh area, we have secured support to enable us to offer 10 schools a pass allowing free access to the center for a year. Qualifying criteria does apply, linked to the Free School Meals and SIMD Indices.

**Please note we have allocated all of our Schools Golden Tickets for this year and will reopen the scheme for the next academic year in April 2017. Just keep an eye on our website nearer the time**

Fully funded outreach

From time to time we are able to offer fully funded activities to after school clubs and community groups (see ‘community group subsidy’). As funding becomes available we will advertise it here and in our e-newsletter so please watch this space.

Community group subsidy

In the past year we have been able to offer assistance to local community groups wanting to visit the centre but for various reasons, be they financial to social, a visit without a subsidy is enough of a constraint to limit access. We have offered team building workshops to fathers and sons, communication training to young adults and open days for young carers to name but a few all with the fabulous support of Scottish Government.

Should you feel your community group could benefit from such support please do contact the science learning team on Qualifying criteria as set out by Scottish Government does apply but if you work with over 14’s we can certainly advise you on any potential subsidies available.
