Fun holiday activities for kids

Looking for things to do with the kids in the Easter Holidays?

As well as being an award-winning attraction, we’ve got a packed programme of events especially created for families this spring to help occupy and inspire growing minds. No need to book for these activities - just turn up on the day!

Fridays, April 1 and April 8, 10am
Destination Space: Life in Space

Do you have what it takes to become an astronaut? Join us to find out. Astronauts must train for years to be ready to live and work in space and the hard work doesn’t stop when they get there. Take part in our astronaut challenges and discover some of the gruesome but fascinating things that can happen to the human body when we leave planet Earth behind.

Saturday, April 2 and Sunday, April 3,
The Wild About Scotland Bus

This awesome bespoke double-decker bus delivers an outreach programme on Scotland's natural history. It has has been fully converted to provide a unique and inspiring teaching space and provide fun, practical sessions. Now in its second year, the Wild about Scotland bus is on a mission to travel the length and breadth of the country, engaging children and communities with Scotland's amazing native wildlife.

The bus will be open to the public 10am- 4pm and entry is free with your Dynamic Earth ticket.

Destination Space: Rockets
Monday, April 4 and Tuesday, April 5, 10am

Just like British Astronaut Tim Peake, every astronaut needs a rocket to get them into space. Real rockets must travel at incredible speeds and with phenomenal power just to escape the surface of our planet. Explore rocket science throughout the day with our interactive activities and demonstrations, learning about some of the amazingly simple science that makes space flight possible. You’ll even be able to make your own rocket to take away!

'Eggstra' Special Fun.
Wednesday, April 6, 10am

Get the chance to dress up as an astronaut and get your picture taken on board the International Space Station or even on top of the Earth, get crafty in our craft corner and join in on an Easter Egg Hunt.

Cells, microscopes and art
Thursday, April 7, 10am

Come along to our drop-in microscope activities with scientists from Heriot Watt University, and discover the amazing tiny world. You’ll also find out how lasers and a billion years of marine evolution have helped to accelerate our understanding of tiny things. You can even join in using your phone and create some spectacular science-inspired 3D art and light projections!

Cosmos Planetarium and hands-on family activities
Saturday, April 9 and Sunday, April 10, 10am

Cosmos planetarium is a state-of-the-art, fully digital, 360° immersive multi-media theater experience. This amazing pop-up digital dome will be visiting Dynamic Earth to give our visitors the chance to view space like you have never seen it before and take a look inside the International Space Station. We have lots of fun activities for all the family. Get the chance to dress up as an astronaut and get your picture taken on board the International Space Station or even on top of the Earth, get crafty in our craft corner and join in on an Easter Egg Hunt.

Tickets to the planetarium are free with entry to Dynamic Earth and film times can be booked on the day of your visit.

Phew! That's a lot of things to choose from. Take a look at our What's On guide any time for ideas. We look forward to meeting you.
