It might be frosty outside but it’s totally tropical here at Dynamic Earth this half-term. We’ve got fun activities to keep your kids busy in the holiday - bring them along and they can become Rainforest Explorers!
Pick up one of our Rainforest Explorer Challenge Packs and start an adventure exploring tropical worlds. Find out about the wide and wonderful variety of life in African tropical forests, and meet our very own crocodile, chimpanzee and yellow-casqued hornbill!
As you adventure through our galleries you’ll even have the chance to take in a tropical thunderstorm - the sights, sounds and sensations will transport you straight to the rainforest.
We’ve got challenges for you to complete, designed to help you become an expert in all things tropical. See if you can outrun a crocodile in the Croco-mile challenge!
Our friendly team of intrepid explorers will be here to help you along the way and, once you’ve completed the challenge pack, you’ll get your very own Dynamic Earth Rainforest Explorer Certificate.
On Wednesday February 15 our tropical explorers will be joined by Dr Murray Collins, an expert from the University of Edinburgh’s School of GeoSciences.
He will explain how researchers work to map and understand the changing landscape of Earth’s forests. He’ll share amazing satellite data and drone footage to help us understand how tropical environments on Earth are changing, and how deforestation is impacting upon the plants and animals that call the rainforests their home.
Our explorers will have the opportunity to meet scientists working in cutting-edge research and policy, and find out more about the vital work they do to help create and more sustainable planet, both in tropical forests and beyond.
Our February half-term Rainforest Explorer activities run from Saturday February 11 to Sunday February 19, from 10am-4pm daily. Access to the activities is included in a ticket to Dynamic Earth and are free for our Annual Explorer Pass Holders.
Or, perhaps you’d like to take to the great outdoors? Join us for Wild Wednesday on February 15 for Fire and Ice activity day.
This is Dino’s Dynamos event - its simple and free to sign up to the club for kids aged 6 to 14, with a host of discounts and offers included in the membership.
This session the Dynamos will journey to the top of Arthur’s Seat, finding out about the great explorer and conservationist John Muir as you carry out your own exploring and make a nature journal along the way.
Wild Wednesdays run from 10-2.30pm and the cost is £15 per child. You’ll need to book in advance via the online system - book now to secure your place.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
