School holidays are fast approaching, but fear not parents, we’ve got you covered!
This year, we’re creating our very own Antarctica, with heaps of cool activities for your own little penguins to get involved with.
Every day, our Polar Extremes family events will be running, offering plenty of opportunities to find out more about Earth’s most extreme environments. You can even get your hands on a real iceberg!
Our dynamic duo of Polar presenters will take you on a journey across Antarctica and the Arctic during our fantastic, interactive family show and we’ll find out more about the wildlife inhabiting these environments and the clever ways they adapt to survive.
We’ll also give you a glimpse into the world of environmental science and the amazing research going on at Earth’s Poles!
There’s lots for our younger visitors to do at our drop-in activities, including icy experiments to find out how penguins stay warm, a drone flight simulator and a whole host of arts and crafts. The little ones can even make their own penguin, walrus or polar bear to take home!
And don’t forget about our brilliant green screen photo booth. Pull on your expedition kit, say cheese next to our furry penguin pals and get ready to tell all your friends about your adventure to Antarctica!
All of our Polar Extremes events are free to enter and run daily between 10am and 4pm.
Dino’s Dynamos Kids Club
If your little dinosaurs are aged between 6 and 14 then they will LOVE our very own kid’s club, Dino’s Dynamos!
Free to join, our club inspires kids to discover all the weird and wonderful things about our planet, with a unique combination of science and craft activities.
On selected Wednesdays throughout the school holidays, our little Dynamos can release their inner adventurers with our exclusive Wild Wednesday outdoor activity days. Journeying to the top of Arthur’s Seat in Holyrood Park, we’ll find out about the explorer and conservationist, John Muir, and our explorers will be able to take home their own nature journal that they’ve created along the way.
Wild Wednesdays run between 10am-2.30pm and cost £15 per child, per day
Our Special ShowDome Event – The Penguin Counters
On 19 and 26 July, we’ll be showing an exclusive screening of The Penguin Counters - a cinematic experience focusing on the research work of Ron Naveen and his team in Antarctica who have the fascinating job of counting hundreds of thousands of penguins!
