Travel from the Seabed to the Stars this Summer!

We are on the final countdown to the end of term and preparations are well underway for our amazing summer events programme at Dynamic Earth. We have a super-exciting array of activities for explorers of all ages during the holidays and we can’t wait for you to come along and take part!

All activities are included with admission to Dynamic Earth and run from 10am-4:30pm daily. The Apollo activities are on the 19th to 22nd July ONLY - please check the “What's On” guide on our website for dates, times and more!

BRAND NEW FOR SUMMER 2019! We are launching MISSION EARTH, our incredible new augmented reality adventure! Your mission (should you choose to accept it…) is to embark on a journey through space and time, gathering field evidence along the way about the past, present and possible future of Planet Earth. You will report back to Mission Control through a series of questions & challenges, and if you successfully complete your mission, you’ll become an official Dynamic Earth Agent!

Get ready to make a splash this summer at Dynamic Earth, and get hands-on with science in our interactive & fun family drop-in activities which we are running in conjunction with ATLAS. This is an EU funded project that aims to improve our understanding of complex deep-sea ecosystems and species. The discoveries made as part of this amazing project will help us understand what goes on in the depths of our oceans and what we should be doing to protect these incredible ecosystems.

Delve to the depths of our oceans and take part in some Atlantic Adventures - you can explore the weird and wonderful marine life that lives in our seas, play with some real and virtual underwater robots and get hands-on with loads of watery experiments! Become an ROV pilot and try get your name on our leader board by sampling as many deep sea vents as possible in our ROV Simulator game. Budding engineers can have a go at designing and building their very own deep sea ROV using Lego or get creative with amazing augmented reality colouring sheets!

From the 19th to 22nd of July we are doing something a little bit different to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo moon landings! Join us to learn the epic story of humanity’s first voyage to another world through fun, family activities and demos.  We will have regular interactive shows, virtual reality adventures, explosive experiments, lunar crafts and a real piece of the moon on display! You even create your own unique astronaut mission patch badge to take home! Have you got what it takes to join the Apollo astronauts on this epic journey?

Why not top off your day by heading down to our ShowDome cinema to experience the moon landings in spectacular 360⁰ with our brand new movie “CAPCOM GO!”.  Showing daily, you can immerse yourself in surround-sound, high-definition film in Edinburgh’s only planetarium cinema. Learn all about the incredible science involved in taking humans to the moon, and feel like you too are joining them on their epic journey…
