Festive Fun at Dynamic Earth!

The festive season is looking a lot different for many of us this year, due to the Covid restrictions that have been put in place countrywide…. The pantos have been cancelled, and the Christmas markets put on hold - but at Dynamic Earth, we have been trying to spread some festive cheer in spite of it all and give Edinburgh locals a magical and memorable day out!

We are open the 19/20th and 28/29th December, plus the 2nd & 3rd January so there are lots of opportunities to get the family on the go, and enjoy a boredom-busting day out! Book your tickets online HERE!

Come along and see if you can find our sneaky Elves - they have escaped  from the North Pole, and have been causing chaos all around the attraction!  Track them down and snap an 'elfie' with the pesky pixies... Don't forget to tag us in your pictures using #EscapedElfAtDE

Our Food Chain Cafe are serving up some fabulously festive treats too, why not stop by for a Gingerbread Latte, a deluxe Black Forest hot chocolate or our infamous Banoffee Coffee - yum!  There is a cracking selection of cakes and sweet treats, and we also serve a variety of delicious hot lunches & cold savoury snacks too.  Relax and enjoy a break with the best views in Edinburgh, looking out over the Salisbury Crags and the iconic Scottish Parliament building!

And not forgetting that all important Christmas shopping - we have that covered for you too!  The Natural Selection Gift Shop have a huge range of unique and exciting gifts for your loved ones - you don’t have to go on the tour to visit the shop or the cafe either.  If you are not able to visit in person, we do also have some online gifts you can purchase - click here to visit the website store and have a wee browse!

Our ever popular Annual Explorer passes are also available to purchase online as an E-voucher - a unique last minute gift for the explorers in your life! Annual passes are great value for money too as they cost less than the price of 2 x day tickets, and offer unlimited access to Dynamic Earth for a whole year - so your loved ones can keep enjoying their gift long after the leftovers have been eaten and the Christmas tree comes down!

Dynamic Earth has also teamed up with some of the other attractions in the Old Town to run a festive photo competition, with an out of this world prize - you could win ALL of these goodies:

  • Dynamic Earth - family ticket
  • Edinburgh Castle  - family ticket
  • The Scotch Whisky Experience - two adult tickets  / family ticket
  • The Camera Obscura - two adult tickets
  • The Real Mary King’s Close - family ticket)
  • Mercat Tours - two adult tickets and souvenir guidebook
  • National Museums of Scotland  - annual pass
  • City Art Centre - goodie bag and voucher for a Mimi’s Christmas Traybake Box
  • Edinburgh Dungeon - two adult tickets

We are looking for a photo that really captures the spirit of the magic and joy of the Royal Mile and Edinburgh’s Old town. It could be anything, the twinkling fairy lights and Christmas trees decorating the traditional old town shops, Dynamic Earth with it's stunning backdrop of the Salisbury Crags, a festive family snap at the Castle or a wintery sunset on the Royal Mile.... there is no more beautiful place to explore this festive season.

All you have to do is tag us in your photos on social media and add the hashtag #MagicMileMoments and you will be automatically entered.  Get your entries in by the 16th December!  T&Cs apply.

We hope that all of our visitors and supporters have a wonderful Christmas, and we are very much looking forward to seeing you all in 2021.
