Expedition Volcano

In this exciting and immersive coding and problem-solving workshop, your pupils will use a range of digital skills and technology to set-up, measure and analyse signals given off by our simulated volcanoes. They will programme Raspberry Pis, and use laptops and tablets to measure gas emitted by our volcanos, movement in their magma chamber and record sounds to make predictions on if our model volcanoes are ready to erupt. The programming and tech skills explored in this workshops and the sensors your pupils build are the same skills and techniques used by Volcanologists in fieldwork and expeditions, and are sure to get your pupils thinking about how technology and Earth and environmental science come together to do incredible things! Will your volcano erupt?  You will work it out!
