Digital Outdoors: Satellites and Environmental Science
Digital Outdoors: Satellites and Environmental Science Wednesday, 30 June 2021

Discover how satellite technology can be used by environmental scientists to learn about our planet.

Satellites are one of the most useful ways technology can be used for environmental science. They enable researchers to capture images of environments, monitor changes, collect data about temperatures and atmosphere, and track wildlife movements and populations.

Join the Dynamic Earth learning team on this outdoor workshop to explore how climate scientists use satellites and how they work. Discover how far away satellites are, how GPS works and take some “satellite” images of our own. Try your hand at time-lapse photography and drawing your own big outdoor picture using satellite technology.
