Half Price Entry: Climate Science Day at Dynamic Earth
Half Price Entry: Climate Science Day at Dynamic Earth Saturday, 06 November 2021 10:00 AM

To celebrate the globally important climate conference COP26 happening right here in Scotland, Dynamic Earth is hosting a Climate Science Day.

In addition to half price entry into Dynamic Earth and our planetarium, visitors will also get to take part in range of fun activities, ask questions of climate scientists, and get up close to the amazing technology we are using to explore our world such as deep-sea landers and under water robots.

Highlights of the day will include:

  • Demonstrations and a chance to explore marine life and ocean acidification as well as some craft activities with Marine Scotland
  • Exploration of real corals, add your creativity to a crafty coral reef and build molecular models of greenhouse gases with The University of Edinburgh
  • Take part in hands-on activities exploring livestock health in the brand-new mobile lab from the Moredun BioBus.
  • Try out state of the art equipment showing how we monitor greenhouse gas concentrations with the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology
  • Explore plastic and beach pollutants with Citizen science activities from the Marine Conservation Society
  • Find out about underwater gliders, drones, ecoSubs, and robotic instruments which follow ocean currents and kits which measure different ocean properties on research expeditions from the Scottish Association for Marine Sciences

During the day visitors will also have the opportunity to hear musical performances underneath Gaia, Luke Jerram’s spectacular sculpture of the Earth. The line up includes multi-award winning Scottish musician Karien Powlart, community choir The Soundhouse Choir and an artist-led social enterprise Oi Musica.
