Scotland's marine heritage spans hundreds of millions of years and evidence of these ancient oceans can be found in some of our rocks!
Back in the Carboniferous Period, Scotland lay close to the equator and experienced a hot and humid climate, with times of sea level rise that covered parts of the land in shallow tropical seas. As part of this years Scottish Geology Festival you can come along and meet with experts from the Scottish Geology Trust to see some of the amazing fossil evidence that helps us unravel what life was like here over 300 million years ago!
